This is my third year of running my "Senior Inspirer" Program! What exactly is this about and WHO are these girls? First, let me introduce who these lovely ladies are!
Amber Logan - Industrial Senior
Katelyn Pratka - Victoria West Senior
Madalyn Nunez - Faith Academy Senior
Mallorie Halepaska - Industrial Senior
Kylie Rozsypal - Industrial Senior
Each year I open applications up in the spring for the next years senior inspirers. I have had seniors on the team from Hallettsville, Cuero, Edna, Shiner, Victoria, Industrial (off the top of my head!). The girls come together for various projects and photoshoots throughout their senior year - its great to see seniors from different school getting to know each other during the year! Aside from the fun photoshoots we have, we also participate in different projects that 'give back' to the community in some way.
Last year I created the "Senior for Seniors" program where we contacted a local director of "Elders of Jackson County" who provided us with items that the local needy senior citizens needed to help get them through the winter. Most of the seniors on the list have no heat, they sometimes have nothing left over after purchasing their medications. My girls and I collected over 100 stockings FULL of those items needed! I had no idea it would be so well-received, but we have been asked to do it again!!!! So are now collecting items again for our "seniors for seniors - stockings for seniors" campaign!
Another project we did last year, that we will repeat this year is Project Beauty. You can see a video of our project on my website. The girls come with no makeup, no hair 'done' and we get the word out that everyone is beautiful even without all the 'bells and whistles' on. We strive to build confidence and get the work out to other young people that everyone has issues they struggle with, noone is perfect.
Our next fun shoot will be Color Powder wars! That is always voted on to repeat each year and the girls have a ton of fun!
For our first group shoot this year we kept it simple and everyone wore white dresses and we got a few shots in the park in Victoria. I just love the sunset we had at the end of the shoot - one of my favorite things is to capture that beautiful sky as the sun sets.
My Senior Inspirers represent Sherry Janis Photography and our hopes are to "inspire" others to do good things for the community no matter how big or small and to lift others up!
