This was a bittersweet session. Isaac's late grandfather's truck became more than just a prop; it became a vessel of memories, a symbol of his grandfather's love and it became a connection to a cherished past where Isaac's grandfather had been working to restore this truck for Isaac. At our consultation, it became very clear how important it was to capture this moment! The sanded areas on the truck will be left to show during the restoration of this old truck and we made sure to capture those areas of the truck with Isaac.
This entire shoot was out of the ordinary from several standpoints. Isaac is also into 'horror' and video games and wanted to incorporate that into the shoot as well!
This session was shot early April and we began this shoot with the old truck. The sun was up high, no shade and you can't tell, but the wind was terrible! We adjusted our lighting to accommodate for the blaring sun and pulled off some great shots with detail still left in the sky as well as Isaac being properly exposed! After that we headed to downtown Edna, Tx for a few casuals with some of his horror props! Here we began the infusion of horror for this senior's passion and then headed to a park for some darker-eerie shots.
This session was a juxtaposition from being very sentimental in one portion of the shoot, to being eerie in the last part of the shoot.
In every frame, Isaac's wonderful personality shines through. This gentleman was such a fun senior to work with!
Isaac has already received his products he ordered, but we didn't post this session until after Mother's Day where they surprised his grandmother with these shots. I wish I could have been a fly on the wall when she saw the metal album, wall canvas and prints from this session. The layers of emotion and personality intertwined in this session, creating a visual narrative that speaks volumes about remembrance and the enduring power of love of Grandparents.
Thank you to all of Isaac's family that I have met during this session in the pre-planing, session day and ordering session. I truly thank you for having me shoot this session for you! Congratulations to this Victoria East senior!
